WELCOME TO EIGHTH GRADE
SCIENCE AND READING!
In the first semester we study physical science - specifically, the study of forces and motion.
What forces allow the skateboarder to move, to jump, to perform an ollie, to stop? Why does he fall? Why is a bump on the ground so difficult to manage? How can speed be controlled? It's all here this year (and a great deal more) in Physical Science.
In the first quarter of Reading, everyone will read S.E. Hinton's famous novel THE OUTSIDERS. (You will never forget this story.) In addition, every student is responsible for reading an outside novel chosen from the eighth grade reading list. A written report accompanies this assignment. Examples of books from the list include:
ALL QUIZZES, TESTS, ESSAYS AND LONGER TERM HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS IN SCIENCE AND READING WILL BE POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE.
