The Gesu Library is a fully automated
facility that serves the needs of both students and staff. Remodeled in 1995, its
collection of nearly 14,000 volumes supplements the curriculum and meets the reference and
reading interests of our students.
Library resources are
further expanded with internet access and the capability of reserving materials at local
public libraries using the Internet.
.
Grades K-6 participate
in a weekly scheduled library period during which students are instructed in library
skills and introduced to a variety of books and authors.
Students in grades 7 and 8
have open library, using its resources throughout the day according to their needs.
The library is staffed by a
professional librarian with Educational Library/Media Certification and a large group of
dedicated parent volunteers who assist in the circulation of nearly 3000 items per month.
Story time is another important part
of weekly library visits
