TBS Class

The Fourth Grade "Terrific Brainstorming Students" meet for ZOOM Class on Friday to learn about strategies for becoming a successful life-long learner.  One way to make studying easier is to get organized and set up a study space at home. This area should include a hard surface for writing, good lighting, a quiet atmosphere, a study sign, and a tool box with basic supplies.  Develop good study habits by making sure that the school agenda book is filled in with all assignments  and that all the books and supplies needed are packed in backpacks before leaving the classroom.  Set a specific time to work on homework and take a 10 minute break after 30 minutes of studying.  When the work has been completed and proofread,  it can be put right into backpacks so it's ready to be taken back to school the next day.

Throughout the school year, TBS students discover more about their own learning styles, practice test-taking skills, and develop scenarios about student-teacher conferencing using the steps in "How to Talk to Almost Any Teacher and Be Heard".  They challenge themselves to build their vocabulary and word analysis skills in the  "WordMasters" analogy competition, compete in the on-line current events contest called "News Bowl", and apply their knowledge of the Multiple Intelligences Theory as they teach a lesson to the class.

It's not how much time you spend studying, but HOW you spend your study time that makes you a
successful student!
