Students in Grade Two integrate Language Arts into every part of their school day. Each teacher works with her own class to develop skills in the areas of Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Writing, Grammar, Speaking and Listening. Second graders also begin to use research skills that will help them be able to develop independence as they on quarterly research projects.
Children also have opportunities to enrich their growth in Language Arts when they meet for the weekly ABC Class they have with Mrs. Regan Kazel. 2nd graders also have a weekly Spanish class with Mrs. Maria Bolanz.
The curriculum map for Language Arts begins with skills related to Reading Readiness, Phonics and Reading.
It then details how skills in Writing, Speaking and Listening, Spelling, Grammar, and Research will be developed for each quarter of the school year.
