Gesu’s Band Program, under the direction of Mr. Frank Adams, begins in grade four and continues through grade eight and consists of 3 levels: Beginning Band, Intermediate Band, and Advanced Band.
In the 2 school years that Mr. Adams has been at Gesu, the band program has grown from 29 students to over 100 . Band students receive a small group lesson and a full band rehearsal once a week. As students progress in their studies they move from Beginning Band to Advanced Band.
The Advanced Band level, grades 6-8, studies a wider range of musical styles and also includes a new supplemental group – the Jazz-Rock Band. Students perform in Christmas and Spring programs. They also have the opportunity to participate in adjudicated solo/ensemble events as well as multi-school honor band programs.
Mr. Adams teaches at Gesu three days a week. The band program is provided through the northeast Ohio music education organization MusicAlliance, the organization which employs Mr. Adams.
