Music

Gesu School has a full time music specialist for Kindergarten through Grade 8. As outline in  the Curriculum for the Arts established by the Diocese of Cleveland, students participate in a variety of musical activities.  Students have a well-rounded education in music with opportunities to sing and perform, play rhythm instruments, move rhythmically, and study music history.  A recorder program begins in Grades 3-4.    Orff and Kodaly methods are also used by our music teacher, Mrs. Mary-Jo Widmann.

Under  Mrs. Widmann’s guidance, students have auditioned and participated in the Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Chorus, Heights Youth Theatre and other community music events.

Students also have the opportunity to join the Liturgical Choral Club.  This group meets on Sunday mornings and Tuesday afternoons with Mr. Mark Ehrbar.     Choral Club also participates in monthly school liturgies.

The Gesu School Band program is directed by Mr. Frank Adams.  It is open to students in grades 4-8.  For more information click here.
