All parents of Gesu School students and all members of the faculty of Gesu School are members of the Gesu Parent Teacher Organization.
P.T.O. meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM in McAuley Hall. Communications from the Gesu P.T.O. are emailed home each week through the Constant Contact system.
Members of the P.T.O. are involved in many different facets of the school. The P.T.O. Board lists a variety of volunteer opportunities at the beginning of the school year to enlist the help of parents in activities that take place during school, after school, and on weekends. Online sign-up is encouraged through the weekly Constant Contact communication system.
Early in the school year the P.T.O. determines volunteers to serve as room parents for each homeroom. These parents work with the classroom teachers to prepare for a variety of events. Frequently they will communicate with other parents to procure holiday treats, arrange celebrations, and help families in time of need.
The PTO sponsors select fund raising endeavors to provide a variety of enrichment opportunities for the children at Gesu. The P.T.O. also sponsors activities for students and also parents which are intended to build relationships within the Gesu School community.
The P.T.O. hosts a Newcomers’ Welcome prior to the start of school, a coffee for the new Kindergarten parents, as well as the ongoing mentoring program for families who are new to Gesu School. These are all wonderful outreach programs designed to strengthen the school and parish community.
Educational programs which focus on strengthening parenting skills is another focus of the P.T.O. The P.T.O. maintains a parent lending library that can be found in the main hallway of the school.
The P.T.O. publishes a Family Directory every fall. More information about this organization can be found in the front of this publication which is distributed to every family in the school.
